Look's like they're set to reprint Stay Out of the Basement, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, The Haunted School (!), Piano Lessons Can Be Murder and The Cuckoo Clock of Doom. September of this year. I'm already prepared to expunge another $30.

Lost R.L. Stine Short Stories: Episode 2

Here we go again...

So, after the whole Dead of Night short story thing, and the unreleased titles saga (still can't purge the name The Good, the Bad and the Very Itchy out of my mind), I decided to take another trip down the old Abandoned R. L. Stine Short Stories Road™. And I've stumbled upon something new.

Like Dead of Night, this is another finding from the old Nightmare Room website. However, this one follows the format of a Give Yourself Goosebumps book, as in it's a choose-your-own-adventure. Unlike Dead of Night, this one seems to be targeted at younger audiences. It seems to have two different titles: Your Own Personal Nightmare and My Journey into The Nightmare Room

"Dead of Night": The lost unpublished story by R. L. Stine!

Long time no see, eh?




In 2001, after the original Goosebumps run had ended, R. L. Stine had begun work on his new series, The Nightmare Room. The new book series had launched alongside its website, thenightmareroom.com. (The website has since been taken down, but an archive of it still exists:

In the back of these books, there was an advertisement for a short story that was only available on this website. The story, titled “Dead of Night” was never published anywhere else and was lost when the website was taken down.
