Marco is the twelve-year-old protagonist and narrator of the book. He is a die-hard fan of The Ooze and is into superheroes. He claims to look older and more mature than Gabriella. |

|
The Ooze is a mountain of a being, whose head is lumpy and bubbly with the shine of oil. He has black and round eyes and broad shoulders. He is a comic book villain who has the power to sludge his enemies. He stalks Marco to try and get the book, and even teams up with The Fabulous Flame to pursue his mission. |

Marco's younger brother who throws a fit out of the slightest things. He stole the bookmark from Marco in order to prolong his powers. |

The Horrors are big, furry, green-and-purple characters. They are the guides and helpers who work at HorrorLand. |

A big Horror in purple overalls who runs the SKULL TOSS booth. He tricks Marco into believing that he woke up the dead after he wins. |

Mr. Clare is Marco's neighbor. He owns a pigeon coop behind his garage, where he keeps dozens of pigeons. Mr. Clare doesn't like Marcobecause he thinks Marco ran over his tomato garden. |
