The Vulture's Claw is a cursed object and main antagonist of the sixth book in the Goosebumps Hall of Horrors book series, The Birthday Party of No Return!
History[]
Lee Hargrove is a kid who is constantly unlucky. No matter what Lee does, bad luck always befalls him. This is different than his friend Cory Duckworth, who always has good luck. One day, Lee is given a vulture claw in the mail which promises to give good luck to whoever possesses it. And, sure enough, good things begin to happen for Lee. That is until his dog Arfy starts to chew on the claw. Suddenly, Lee begins to have even worse luck than before. He then decides to give Cory his unlucky claw at Cory's birthday party, only to find out that Cory also has a vulture claw which was what gave him good luck. Lee's bad luck causes him to destroy Cory's house and ruin his birthday. Cory also tells Lee that it wasn't Arfy who ruined the claw, it was Lee who would constantly kiss the claw whenever good things happened. At the school football game, Lee kisses Cory's claw in hopes to curse it, and it seems to work as Cory is also just as unlucky as Lee. The two, along with their friend Laura Grodin, are in the finals of a school contest to win a trip to sports camp. Lee and Cory begin to suddenly act strangely and think that both are giant vultures and begin to fight each other. They both lose the contest and Laura wins, to which she reveals that she was the one who sent both of them the claws so that she could ultimately win the prize.

The vulture claw has the ability to grant good luck and fortune to whoever possess it. However, once the claw is kissed, the claw will grant only bad luck and misfortune to its possessor. It can seemingly cause hallucinations, making the owner believe a giant vulture is constantly following them and even making them believe they are a vulture as well.
