The Tattoos are the main antagonists of "Attack of the Tattoo", the second short story featured in Still More Tales to Give You Goosebumps.
History[]
On Halloween night, The Tattoos are spread to many children via trick-or-treating. All try to put them on but they are unsuccessful. Eventually, Jeannie discovers that to put one on, you must use water scorched by the sun. She shines the light of the sun into a bottle of water and uses it to put on her tattoo, which is of a snake. While she bikes to her friends house, a snake suddenly appears on her lap and she throws it off, brushing it off as her imagination. Later that night, Jeannie wakes up to find snakes in her bed which she throws out of her bed and pieces together that the snakes came from the tattoo. She tries to wash the tattoo off using water and various strong cleaning chemicals but it stays on. The next day, Jeannie reads the instructions and discovers that you must use water struck by the full moon to remove it. Her friend, Maggie tells her that the moon will be full that night. That night, Jeannie grabs another bottle of water and takes it outside only to discover that the full moon is covered by clouds while snakes come out of the tattoo. After a tussle, Jeannie manages to shine the light of the full moon into the water which she uses on the snakes and the tattoo, which finally comes off. She comes to school the next day and discovers in horror that everyone is now wearing one of the tattoos. Zach Bailey, the mean kid in class, puts a tattoo of a tarantula on Maggie's arm and one of a rat on Jeannie's arm.
