The Rattlesnake is the main antagonist of the twenty-sixth book in the Give Yourself Goosebumps book series, Alone in Snakebite Canyon.

Biography[]

Many centuries ago, this particular rattlesnake was born in the titular Snakebite Canyon. The rattlesnake was born magical eyes that allowed him to transform into any animal he wanted to at any moment, which allowed him to disguise himself as any other animal which allowed him to catch his prey and fool predators easier. One day, a brave eagle plucked out his magical eyes, and gave them to a tribe of Quezot Indians, who used the eyes to take on the form of animals. According to this legend, the rattlesnake will hunt down the possessor of the eyes out of revenge to this day.

During the events of Alone in Snakebite Canyon, the rattlesnake will hunt down the reader as the reader is in possession of the snake eyes. The reader can either choose to return the eyes to the rattlesnake, or find a way to escape its vengeance.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

The rattlesnake looks like a typical desert/canyon rattlesnake. Its eyes are green and it has orange and brown scales.

Personality[]

The rattlesnake is extremely vengeful, as it seeks its former eyes and has killed many people who formerly bought the eyes when they ventured into Snakebite Canyon. If the reader does return its eyes, the rattlesnake is shown to not harm the reader, and instead gives them a gift of either permanent snake fangs or the ability to transform into any animal without the use of the eyes.
