"Perfect School" is the seventh short story in the book Even More Tales to Give You Goosebumps.

Plot

Brian O'Connor is far from perfect. He can never quite please his parents. When they come across an ad for The Perfect Boarding School, Brian's parents quickly send him away, thinking it could do him some good. When Brian gets on the train, he befriends a boy named CJ, who has also been sent to the Perfect School. When he is dropped off, Brian encounters the school's "graduates": robot-like children dressed in gray uniforms. The new students then meet the director of the boarding school, who reveals they will all be assigned and referred to as a number. Even stranger, every staff member must be referred to as Guardian.  Brian soon becomes a troublemaker in the eyes of the guardians, and they tell him he will need to move on to a more advanced course. One of the guardians drags Brian away to "The Pattern Room" and Brian quickly realizes something strange is going on. He is weighed, and practically every part of him is measured. Brian attempts to call his parents, but is stopped by the headmaster, who tells Brian he's made his last error. Looking into a nearby vent, he sees other students crying out for help. They tell Brian the school plans to send a robotic look-alike home to his parents. Brian tries to escape, but is stopped by CJ, who reveals himself as Brian's personal guardian. Brian is sent home to his parents, now completely perfect. However, he reveals he's the real Brian, and was able to trap CJ and the fake Brian in the cells below. He plans to go back to the school and save the other children, but for now, must keep up his role.
