The Collector is one of the primary antagonists of Scariest. Book. Ever.
History[]
The Collector is a book collector who wants his collection of books to be the most valuable in the world. Having learned of the Scariest Book Ever, a supernatural book that would unleash great evil upon the world if it were ever destroyed or opened, he came to the Wayward Forest in search of it. He falsely befriended Uncle Wendel, gaining his trust so Wendel would tell him several of his secrets In an attempt to learn the location of the book. Both he and Wendel were incapacitated by The Bookworm, who had also come to the Wayward Forest in search of the book for his own collection. The Bookworm tied Wendel up in the attic and locked The Collector up in the shed.
When Wendel's twin niece and nephew Betty and Billy free The Collector from the shed, he pretends to be Wendel, saying he needs the kids to keep the Scariest Book Ever away from The Bookworm. He gives The Bookworm a book, claiming it is the Scariest Book Ever. After The Bookworm and Jesse leave, he takes the twins down to the basement, showing them a safe. The Bookworm and Jesse return, having not been fooled by the fake book they were given, and force The Collector and the twins into the safe. The Collector, Betty, and Billy escape the safe through an exit The Collector knew about, and they head for the Wayward Forest, where The Collector claims the book really is.
Upon entering the locust cave in the Wayward Forest, The Collector and the twins are confronted by giant locusts. While two giant locusts are fighting, The Collector manages to find the book, and the real Uncle Wendel arrives, having escaped the attic and tied up The Bookworm and Jesse. The real Wendel's identity is proven when he correctly gives Betty's full first name. The Collector knocks Wendel out and tries to force the kids to march back to the house. The Collector is attacked by two tree bears and is saved by Wendel. The group return to the house, and it can be assumed that The Collector, The Bookworm, and Jesse are all turned into the authorities afterward.
Personality[]
The Collector initially presents himself as a good man who cares for the twins and wants to keep the book out of the hands of evil people. He is a very good actor, putting up a strong facade. He moves the kids away from the burning books after Jesse sets them on fire, and he pleads for The Bookworm to only seal him in the safe and leave the twins alone. His acting was good enough to get Uncle Wendel to trust him. In truth however, The Collector was a ruthless and greedy man who was willing to use others to gain fame and fortune through obtaining the Scariest Book Ever.
Appearance[]
The Collector is blond with stubble. He wears a loose-fitting white sweatshirt and baggy khaki pants.
