  • Welcome to Dead House/TV Episode?diff=45175&oldid=45174

You wrote a plot summary that is 16 paragraphs, and some of those paragraphs are overly long and very bloated. Not to sound rude, but, nobody is going to read that. It's very, very long. So long that I rather just watch the episode instead. The plot section is also bloating up the article. You really need to trim it down, and by a lot too. It needs to be more concise.

You should really check out this Wikipedia article on how to write a plot summary.

Also, I'm not trying to be rude or mean. I appreciate that you want to contribute to the wiki. I'm just trying to help you.

    • Yeah I'm with you. Completely agree. I think it's moslty because the Welcome to Dead House plot sumary was the first one i did. I just finished the Stay out of the basement one, which is much more concise.

Just an FYI, I'm not re-writing the entire thing, i just takes what's there and update it / add relevant plot points and fix some mistaks I've noticed.

      Thanks for the help :)

I recently bought every single RL Stine book and i want to make this wiki great :)

    • While you aren't completely rewriting anything, you do have a tendancy to keep adding more and more info to pages.

I know from personal experience that book summaries can easily become too long if you don't prioritize information. Most people who come to this Wikia want a brief plot overview. If an article is too long, it can make it unuseful. Really important info can get drowned out by less-important info if a page is too long.

My general rule-of-thumb for book summaries is this: The entire book summary should use about 4,000 to 8,000 symbols. I use https://wordcounter.net/ to count the total number of characters/symbols in a summary. Right now, the Welcome to Dead House (TV Episode) page has a plot summary that uses over 17,000 characters/symbols. In total, the page uses over 27,000 characters/symbols. The Welcome to Dead House (TV Episode) page uses more words than both episode transcripts combined. The article is too long.

There are probably thousands of differences between the book and the TV episode, but we try to only cover the things that are most important things.

    • Yeah I agree. I did go to town a little bit on the Welcome to Dead House stuff.

I mean there really is alof info out there. But you're right. Moving forward I'll definitely keep things more concise and really only point out MAJOR differences.

Sorry if I've caused trouble / concern for you guys. Just love my goosebumps!

  • 1: You sure do love Welcome to Dead House, I don't blame you, that book is really scary and incredible, 2: is that you in that photo?

    • Yeah! Just fell in love with it all over again after re-reading it and watching the episodes again with my girlfriend. And yes, that is me in the photo. You can find me @tjkalogianis on twitter :)

    • Hey of course!

I'm very much getting into this forum just as I get back into my goosebumps. I was a huge fan back in the day, and I've recently gone on a bit of a shopping spreed and bought all of the missing RL Stine books i needed. I think I have every single goosebumps book (including slappyworld #1 on pre-order).

      I'm very excited!!

  • I saw that you added an eBook section for Welcome to Dead House, and its a pretty cool idea. I think that more pages should have a section like this. :)

    • Yeah i think this is awesome. Really good idea. Should 100% help people get back into the books.

With amount of people re-living the retro 90's horror fiction via podcast it will make it easy for them to get a copy of the book again you know? Super cool.

    • Hey while I'm here - is there any way we can add an ISBN number to the info box of the book?

        Loading editor
    • We could, but I recommend asking GodzillaFan1 about it (he's lead mod). It would be difficult to update all of the infoboxes, but it isn't a bad idea.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah do you mind asking? I mean I would personally be happy to add all ISBN numbers. I have literally every goosebumps and fear street book on my shelf next to me :) #ThanksEbay
