Memphis Willy is the main antagonist of "The Haunted Guitar", the first short story featured in More & More Tales to Give You Goosebumps.
History[]
Likely around the 1920s to the 1960s, Memphis was a popular blues guitarist who spent much of his time traveling and playing blues on his guitar nicknamed Gertie. Memphis became so attached to Gertie that he developed an addiction to playing and continued to play well after his death which caused him to haunt Gertie. Long after his death, Gertie made it's way into Sal's Music Store and was stolen by Jeffrey after a major fire at the store as it was the only unaffected item. The night that Jeffrey stole the Gertie, Memphis appeared in his room while playing blues. Memphis encouraged Jeffrey to start playing and forced him to play forever.
