Margot Stokes is a main character in Goosebumps. She is portrayed by Isa Briones.

History[]

Margot attended a pep rally at her school. When her father, Colin Stokes, sat with her, he was quickly reminded that they weren't related at school. When he got up, Lucas Parker took his seat and surprised Margot by talking to her.

At home, Margot heard her neighbor and friend, Isaiah's parents fighting, so she went over to check on Isaiah. He told her that he was on probation and wouldn't be able to play in that week's football game unless he got an A on his history test. He asked Margot to help him cheat off her and she reluctantly agreed.

As promised, Margot let Isaiah copy her answers and assured him he'd get an A. He invited her to the party his girlfriend was throwing, but when Margot showed up at the scheduled time, she learned that most people showed up an hour late and the party wasn't even ready yet. Allison was also jealous of Margot and Isaiah's friendship and didn't want Margot at the party. Margot stayed at the party for a while and then told Isaiah she was leaving.

The next day at school, Margot was getting a snack from a vending machine when she saw a mysterious person down the hallway. She called to them, but they didn't answer and then the bell rang. However, while was distracted, the selection she made on the machine changed, giving her a bar with nuts, which caused an allergic reaction when she ate it. Isaiah rushed to her aid, injecting her with her EpiPen, allowing her to breathe again.

Margot later went home, where she found Isaiah, whom she thanked for saving her life. He told her the camera he'd found at the Biddle house had predicted her allergic reaction, but she didn't believe him, especially since the picture he showed her, which had shown him with a broken arm when he first looked at it, was blank. She was angry that he was making her reaction about him and refused to help him. Later, at the game, Isaiah broke his arm as the photo predicted.[1]

When Isaiah was home from the hospital, Margot went to see him and apologized for not believing him. However, when she tried to talk to him about the camera, he brushed her off and refused to talk about it.

Margot was walking outside when Nora Parker gave her a photo and asked her to ask Isaiah if he recognized the subject. She took it to Isaiah, who said that he recognized the subject as the referee from the game who had burst into flames. They decided to go to the Harbor Stop to see Nora and ask her about it. However, when they arrived, they found Lucas being attacked by a troll. They improvised weapons and scared the troll off, saving Lucas.[2]

Isaiah and Margot agreed that they saw a monster and decided to go talk to James about it. They found James and talked to him, but were startled when he insulted them and even more insulted when Isabella hit him with a bat, splattering him. She explained that it wasn't really James, but a duplicate. She told them how she discovered this and they decided that it must be related to the Biddle house after Isabella's experience with the mask and Isaiah's with the camera. They went to Nora, but she told them if they really wanted to know, they needed to talk to Margot's dad. Margot didn't want to do that, so they went to James's house. When they saw a dupe James leave, they followed him to James's family's mine. There, they fought several more dupes and Isaiah ended up captured by them and put in the same place as the real James. Isabella and Margot found them and tried to lead them out, but they got serrated and had to fight more dupes before being able to escape. They went to the Harbor Stop so James could eat and Margot decided to call her mother, who told her she couldn't trust the other parents and that she'd be there soon.[3]

One morning, Margot couldn't find her dad at home, so she texted to ask where he was. When talking about the wait for Margot's mom to arrive, the group decided they couldn't wait and decided to trust Margot's dad with the information instead. However, Lucas came to Margot and said he had something to show her. He took her to his bedroom and showed him a video of their parents kissing. Then Lucas asked if she wanted to see him eat one of his worms. While he was holding it over his head, it slithered up his nose, making him gag.

Margot told the others they couldn't trust her dad after all and Isaiah said he wanted to include Allison in their group because she saw something in the woods the night of the party. When they talked to Allison, she denied seeing anything. Isaiah then told her about Margot helping him cheat, playing it off as the whole story between them. Allison immediately told Stokes about this and Stokes called Margot into her office. She admitted she'd cheated and said she probably learned it from him, as she'd been told about his affair. Their conversation was interrupted by a noise outside. They went out to find Lucas preparing to ride his dirt bike off the roof. They were unable to stop him and he crashed into Stokes' car. He checked on Lucas and said he'd have to recommend that the principal expel him. Lucas, in turn, recommended that Stokes stop banging his mom. Margot asked if he was okay and Lucas told her he couldn't feel pain, which he demonstrated by reducing his own shoulder dislocation. She and the others realized that the worms had come from the Biddle house, meaning Lucas was one of them. After Lucas said he was going to attempt the "Booms of Doom," she went to Nora and told her. She and Nora, who told her Lucas was about to attempt the stunt that killed his father. They went to where Lucas was and Nora told Lucas that his father didn't attempt it because he thought he could do it, but because he knew he couldn't and wanted to die. He'd left a suicide note. Nora never told Lucas because he idolized his father and she didn't want to ruin that for him. Lucas then threw up all the worms in his body, but they formed a worm monster. It chased him to the sawmill, where Nora and Margot were able to turn on the chipper to destroy it. Lucas and Margot left with Isaiah, Isabella, and James and Nora stayed and waited for the police.[4]

With Nora in the psychiatric ward, Lucas went home with Stokes and Margot. Soon after they got home, Sarah finally showed up. When her dad stepped out of the room while they ate dinner, Margot asked Sarah to tell them what she came to say. Sarah refused, saying she had to take care of some things first.

Margot and Lucas went to James's to meet with the others. Lucas took them the long way there and showed Margot a playground where he used to play. He told her he wanted to show her that things would get better. During his confession, Margot leaned in and kissed him. Then they continued to James, where she told the others that Sarah hadn't told her anything.

The next day, at school, Margot was in the library when Bratt gave her a scrapbook that he said had pictures of her mother. When she opened it and looked at a picture of her mother, she saw her mother and Isaiah's father as teens in the library. Then her mother talked to Harold Biddle. She then repeated the process with another picture in the AV room, which was the darkroom back then, and realized her mother and Harold were friends. She showed the book to the others, who felt it was too dangerous to keep using. Desperate to get answers, Margot insisted on using it anyway. She ended up getting trapped in a memory and Biddle dragged her to his house, where she saw some teens there the night he died. After the others showed up and got her out of the house, they watched the teens exit after the fire started and realized it was their parents, who were indirectly responsible for Biddle's death. They wanted to know what was inside the case the teens carried out, and Bratt suddenly appeared and said he'd tell them all about it if they came inside.[5]

The teens came in and listened to Bratt tell the story of Slappy the Dummy and Ephraim Bratt, leading up to the death of Ephraim's great-grandson, Harold Biddle. Based on his telling, they believed their parents had actually tried to help Harold and were his friends, but Bratt insisted they were murderers who had bullied Harold. They asked him how he knew all this and he told them the twist was that he isn't Bratt, but Harold. He scared the by turning into Harold right in front of them.[6]
