Mahar's Carnival of Wonders is an amusement park owned by Franz Mahar that appears in the tenth episode of the 2023 Goosebumps series, Welcome to Horrorland.
History[]
Mahar's Carrnival of Wonders was established sometime during the late 19th century, somewhere in New York City. It was created by a puppet maker named Franz Mahar, who seemed optimistic about his carnival, even if it supposedly didn't gain as much traction. In 1885, a locally known "magician" named Kanduu came to the amusement park, interested in the wood workings and creations in Mahar's tent.
Mahar introduced himself to Kanduu, who believed the carnival to be a failiure but decided to help Mahar in exchange for a something. Unbeknownst to Mahar, Kanduu planned to use the park's attendants and workers for a ritual that would unleash demons and monsters onto the real world. A year later, the carnival was seemingly a success with Kanduu's help, but he turned everyone inside it into a dummy.
When Mahar discovered this, he was horrified and felt remorse, so he gave Kanduu the dummy he brought to life when they first met as a gift. Mahar took the time to transfer Kanduu's soul into the dummy as he marveled at it's appearance saying the words "Karru Marri Odonna Loma Molonu Karrano". Kanduu figured this quickly and stabbed Mahar, but was too late from stopping him as his soul was sucked into the dummy. In his last dying breath, Mahar trapped the now possesed dummy inside a case before he finally bled to death.
While it's unknown what happened to the carnival or everyone in it afterwards, it can be assumed it was torn down as New York City started being more urbanized and costructed in the 1800s.
