Livvy and her best friend Gates Warwas are part of their school's robotics team and have created a fully functional robot named Francine to compete in their upcoming school meet competition. However, Francine seems to never work right, injuring the hand of one of their rivals for the contest. More and more strange things occur with Francine and eventually it leads Livvy and Gates to be disqualified from the meet. Even more strange is Livvy's parents, who seem to be acting more secretive in their basement laboratory. She soon discovers that her parents have been replaced by robots by their housekeeper Mrs. Bernard. She also used mind control discs on Livvy's real parents. Livvy's parents soon manage to free themselves from their control and rip off Mrs. Bernard's head, which was also robotic. Later, Livvy and Gates head to the competition, now able to use Francine. However, Francine gains sentience and locks everyone inside the gym.
