King Robert is the main antagonist of the twenty-seventh Goosebumps book, A Night in Terror Tower, its accompanying television adaptation, and its sequel, Return to Terror Tower, the second Special Edition of the Give Yourself Goosebumps series.
Biography[]
King Robert was the King's brother and Queen's brother-in-law, and also their aide, until he murdered them. After that, he locked the king's children, his own niece and nephew, Susannah and Edward, in Terror Tower, and cursed its entrance so anyone who tries to enter without a key is instantly turned to stone. Later, he killed Lord Worcestor, a family friend of the family and condemned him to haunt the royal palace as a ghost. Using his amulet, he brainwashed the entire royal court, rechristening one man the Lord High Executioner.
Morgred, the local wizard, put a spell on three white stones to send Susannah and Edward, into the future to escape Robert's wrath, but Robert guessed the plan and sent the Executioner after them, interrupting the spell and giving Susannah and Edward incomplete memories of their past.
In Return's best ending, Robert is deposed, and everyone in the royal court snaps out of their brainwashing, allowing Susannah, Edward, and the reader (who is their cousin) to become York's rulers. In the worst ending, he steals the stones, has Susannah and Edward executed, and forces the reader to avoid blades and dance around the throne room until they are stabbed to death.
