King Raman is the deuteragonist of the third book in the Goosebumps House of Shivers series, Night of the Living Mummy.
History[]
Thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt, Raman was a young boy, forced to take the mantle of king after the death of his father King Tutanak. While Raman would have preferred still being a kid with less responsibility like his younger siblings Omari and Akila, he still takes the job as king seriously, while also being tasked with protecting a powerful magic amulet. As king, Raman is a more fair and just king, much to the chagrin of his advisor Khufu, who looks at Raman as weak after Raman isn't harsh to a pair of men arguing over the rights to a camel. But not long after this incident, while at breakfast, Raman is attacked by a snake that bites him in the throat, killing him instantly.
His mother, Isis, and Khufu send forth the powerful wizard Vathor to bring him back to life. Vathor spreads a magic dust on Raman that doesn't instantly awaken him. Time passes and Raman is mummified and laid to rest, however, Isis soon discovers that the amulet has been stolen. Raman soon awakens. Isis and Khufu speak with Vathor's assistant Maliki who tells them that Vathor stole the amulet and traveled to the future. Raman vows to find Vathor in the future to recover the stolen amulet.
In present day, a boy named Happy Silverman is with his class on a trip to the museum. He sneaks into the closed mummy exhibit and sees the mummified Raman. Raman awakens and transfers his mind into Happy's, saying he needs Happy's help to find the amulet. Happy at first refuses, but when Raman threatens to leave Happy's mind in Raman's mummified body, Happy reluctantly agrees to help. They soon discover the location of the amulet in a bag belonging to Happy's science teacher Mr. Horvat, who was secretly Vathor the entire time.
Happy gets the amulet, but after a scuffle with his friend Jayden (under the control of Vathor), Happy winds up back in ancient Egypt, face to face with Vathor. Vathor threatens to transform Happy into a small creature, but Isis arrives in time and grabs the amulet from Vathor, turning him into a snake. She tries to step on him, but he escapes. Raman and Isis thank Happy for helping them and Raman is finally able to rest in peace. Happy uses the amulet and returns to the present, where his new teacher, Miss Bethany, tells him that they'll be going back to the museum to visit the mummy exhibit.
General Information[]
Personality[]
Despite being thrust into the job as king, Raman tries to do what he can for the good of his people. He has a good rapport with his family as well. Though he can also show that he'll punish people for insolence if he doesn't get the help he needs, namely when Happy refuses to help him. He also is a poor judge of character, notably when he mistakes another man as being the thief of the amulet.
