Kate Welles is the main protagonist of the second Goosebumps Most Wanted: Special Edition book, The 12 Screams of Christmas.
History
Up until one fall, Kate thought she was a normal twelve year old girl. But then in the spring, she went near the cemetery and saw many ghosts rise up from their graves. This really frightened Kate and she told everyone in school all about it, but they didn't believe her. She was then dubbed "Ghost Girl" by Courtney Smith whom Kate despises because she is always on her case. Pretty soon, Kate started seeing ghosts everywhere she went. She was in denial and she was also determined to continue being a normal girl. But after a while, Kate had to face the frightening truth that she had the ability to see ghosts. But she was still determined to not let anyone think she was weird, which was not easy with Courtney around.
Soon, she was captured by a family of ghosts who had lost their daughter long ago and wanted Kate to replace her for Christmas. They forced to partake in gross Christmas traditions, such as eating the skeleton of a turkey. When she rejected all their traditions, they planned to get rid of her. Thankfully, she was able to save Flora by screaming "come up!" into the well twelves times. She used Courtney's help to this, and Flora thanked her, causing Courtney to run screaming. No one else could see Flora, so Courtney became Ghost Girl, instead of Kate.
However, Flora followed her home and told Kate she wants to live with her, as she resented her family for leaving her in a well so 100 years.

Kate is a tense and shy girl, who is constantly bullied by a girl from her school, Courtney. In spite of this, Kate is usually the cheerful one in the group.

Kate is twelve years old, Caucasian and pretty chubby with dark hair.
