Goosebumps is an upcoming television series based on R.L. Stine's best-selling book series Goosebumps. It is also the second television series based on the franchise since the original Goosebumps television series that ran from 1995 to 1998. The series has currently been picked up for a ten episode season for the Disney+ streaming service. The series will abandon the adaptation format of the original series to focus on a serialized style of storytelling instead, while still featuring many of the iconic Goosebumps monsters and items.
The series was first announced on April 28th, 2020 to be in development. On February 4th, 2022, the series was announced to premiere on Disney+. Director of the first Goosebumps film, Rob Letterman, will also return to direct the first episode of the series and serve as writer and producer. Nick Stoller will serve as executive producer. Sony Pictures Television Studios will produce.
“The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.”
- This will be the second R.L. Stine series created for Disney+ with the previous being 2021's Just Beyond.
