Why I'm Afraid of Bees
Mr. Andretti, Gary Lutz's neighbor, is a beekeeper. Mr. Andretti has a bee colony in his backyard. He occasionally lets some of the bees out to collect honey.
When Gary goes to the Person-to-Person Vacation center in the hopes of switching bodies, several bees follow him through an open door. Gary is attached to the company's body-switching machine, and the machine is turned on. Gary's vision goes black. When he regains consciousness, he finds that his mind has been transferred into the body of a bee. Gary spends almost the entire rest of the book trying to get his human body back.
Other appearances
A swarm of bees appears in the Goosebumps movie. They are among the Goosebumps creations that assist Slappy into attacking Madison High School to target R.L. Stine. When the bees get into the school, Zach uses baseball bats to fight them.
